My Research Interests

I'm interested in the form and function of plural morphology and how it interacts with other systems in a language's grammar. In Asante Twi (Akan), the morphological singular-plural was once done by the now-defunct noun class system. I'm looking at the interaction of plural marking with the mass-count distinction and the development of these systems in connection to the former noun class system. In Ikpána (Logba), I investigate the borrowed plural marker -wɔ and how its integration affects verbal agreement in the syntax and definiteness in the semantics. To study these languages, I have the pleasure of doing fieldwork in Legon, Greater Accra Region and Logba Alakpeti, Volta Region in Ghana.
